Duchess: The Matriarch
A ferocious feline hailing from the New Mexican desert, Duchess was my first pet. I love her more than almost anything in the world. I’m petting her right now as I write this. For my first blog post on my Pensacola content writer website, she makes a fitting kick-off.
She is, at once, a goddess and a layabout. Her deep blue eyes draw the obsession of anyone lucky enough to get her attention, while the little tufts on the tips of her ears are reminiscent of a wild lynx. Her fluffy fur boasts heavy swirls of gray and less gray. Everyone who meets her falls in love with her.
I’m very lucky to have her. Like all of my pets, we are fated to be together. An ex-girlfriend and I plucked her from the "Kitten Korale” from Santa Fe. Duchess was reserved and anti-social at first. She didn’t cuddle, like to be petted or play with toys. She was this way as long as she lived with said ex-girlfriend, for reasons I’d prefer to avoid discussing this article. The moment the relationship ended and I took Duchess back with me to live my mother, she lept out her shell with a vengeance.
Today, she lives to lie on laps. Remember how I was petting her a moment ago? She has since started to make biscuits on my leg. She’s certainly not the most affectionate cat, but, for this Pensacola SEO content specialist, she’s perfect.
